Sodium lauryl sulphate: How does the surfactant for floor cleaning, machine degreasing or car cleaning get into our toothpaste?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) is still found in many cosmetic products. It is an aggressive cleaning agent for floor cleaning, machine degreasing or car cleaning.<\/p>\n

In medical and clinical studies, sodium lauryl sulphate has been used as standard for decades to trigger defined skin irritations<\/strong> and to compare these with the reactions of the skin to other chemicals. The strong degreasing effect leads, among other things, to dry and tense skin, various skin irritations and mucous membrane irritations.<\/p>\n

Main purpose of SLS: create skin irritation because it works so reliably<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We do not want to go into the many other possible damages in the body due to accumulation \u2013 that is a bio-logical consequence. Concentrations as low as 0.5 % damage the skin barrier and allow these and other substances to enter the body. SLS is therefore also used as a transport agent and skin penetration enhancer<\/strong> for other substances \u2013 for which a concentration of 0.5 % is sufficient.<\/p>\n

This means: The skin barrier is actively damaged in order to be able to smuggle in other substances better \u2013 what a logic …<\/p>\n

Is sodium laureth sulphate (SLES) an alternative to SLS and less harmful?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sodium laureth sulphate is used, among other things, to avoid having to declare sodium lauryl sulphate. SLES is classified as somewhat less irritating. As SLES is an ethoxylated compound<\/strong>, it causes local anaesthesia<\/strong> in addition to irritation of the skin<\/strong> \u2013 therefore, the irritation of the skin is perceived and classified as less.<\/p>\n

In medizinischen und klinischen Studien wird Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfat seit Jahrzehnten standardm\u00e4\u00dfig eingesetzt um\u00a0definierte Hautirritationen auszul\u00f6sen<\/i><\/b>\u00a0um daraufhin diese mit den Wirkungen anderer Chemikalien auf die Haut zu vergleichen.\u00a0Die stark entfettende Wirkung f\u00fchrt u.a. zu trockener und gespannter Haut, unterschiedlichen Hautirritationen und Schleimhautreizungen.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Der Haupteinsatzzweck ist Hautirritationen zu erzeugen, weil das so zuverl\u00e4ssig funktioniert!<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
Auf die vielen weiteren m\u00f6glichen Sch\u00e4digungen im K\u00f6rper durch Anreicherung wollen wir nicht weiter eingehen – das ist eine bio-logische Folge. Bereits Konzentrationen von 0,5% sch\u00e4digen die Hautbarriere und erm\u00f6glichen den Eintritt dieser und anderer Substanzen in den K\u00f6rper. SLS wird deshalb auch als\u00a0Transportmittel und Hautpenetrationsverst\u00e4rker<\/i><\/b>\u00a0f\u00fcr andere Substanzen verwendet – wof\u00fcr eine Konzentration von 0,5% ausreichend ist.<\/span><\/div>\n
Das bedeutet, die Hautbarriere wird aktiv gesch\u00e4digt um andere Substanzen besser einschleusen zu k\u00f6nnen – was f\u00fcr eine Logik.<\/span><\/div>\n

Sodium-Laureth-Sulfat (SLES) eine Alternative zu SLS und weniger sch\u00e4dlich?<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n
Sodium-Laureth-Sulfate wird unter anderem eingesetzt um nicht mehr Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfat deklarieren zu m\u00fcssen. SLES wird als etwas weniger reizend eingestuft.<\/span><\/div>\n
Da SLES eine\u00a0Ethoxylierte Verbindung<\/b>\u00a0ist, kommt es neben der\u00a0Reizung der Haut<\/i><\/b>\u00a0gleichzeitig auch zu einer\u00a0lokalen Bet\u00e4ubung<\/i><\/b>\u00a0– deswegen wird die Reizung der Haut als geringer empfunden und eingestuft<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
